About Us

Legora is redefining how legal work gets done. Not built for lawyers, built with them. We work alongside the world’s best legal teams, who expect excellence, precision, and speed, and we hold ourselves to the same bar.

Our AI-native workspace lets legal professionals move faster, think more clearly, and operate with sharper precision. By analysing thousands of documents in minutes and powering end-to-end workflows, we cut through complexity, teams can focus on what matters: judgment, strategy, and outcomes.

1,000+ customers across 50+ countries trust us, including Cleary Gottlieb, Goodwin, Linklaters, White & Case, Dentons, and Barclays. We’ve scaled to $100M+ in ARR, with teams across Europe, North America and APAC, and continue to expand through acquisitions including Qura, Walter AI and Graceview.

We partner with world-class performers: including Aaron Judge and the New York Yankees, Ludvig Åberg (and his caddie), and campaigns featuring Jude Law.

Joining Legora means three things.

  • We lean in: ownership over titles, outcomes over intentions.

  • We fight for excellence: high standards, direct, ego-free feedback.

  • We grow together: as a team and with our customers.

Mission before ego. Everyone contributes. No one coasts.

If you’re driven by impact, pace, and raising the bar. This is the place.

About the role

Let's get the tricky part out of the way. Legal Engineering does not fit neatly into a traditional box. It combines legal practice, product fluency, enterprise change, commercial judgement and client leadership.

As Head of Legal Engineering, Italy, your mission is to establish Legal Engineering as the commercial and delivery engine for Italy, anchored in Milan. You will set the craft bar, build the team and its Team Lead layer, partner closely with Go-to-Market and Engagement, lead selectively on the highest-stakes clients, and turn local learning into playbooks that scale across the market.

This is a Director-level leadership role. Your primary output will be the quality and performance of the team and system you build. You will stay close enough to the product and the work to coach credibly, while moving your own time toward hiring, leadership development, senior relationships, market strategy and cross-functional execution.

You will have the autonomy to shape how Legal Engineering lands in a strategically important market, together with the responsibility to keep that local model connected to Legora's global standards.

What you'll be doing

Some of what you will be up to:

  • Stand up the Legal Engineering function for Italy from the Milan office, including its operating rhythm, quality bar, capacity model and local partnership with Go-to-Market and Engagement.

  • Hire exceptional Legal Engineers and future leaders. Own the quality bar from sourcing and interview calibration through closing, onboarding and ramp.

  • Build a manager layer of Team Leads who each own and develop a group of Legal Engineers. Delegate real decision rights and create clear succession paths so the function becomes stronger and less dependent on you over time.

  • Give direct, evidence-based feedback. Coach hard, set clear expectations and act decisively when the performance or values bar is not met.

  • Partner with local commercial leadership on priority accounts, pilots, rollouts and escalations. Connect Legal Engineering activity to conversion, adoption, usage, expansion and revenue.

  • Act as the lead legal architect on selected enterprise engagements. Translate a real legal problem into a concrete Legora workflow, then turn successful delivery into a reusable playbook others can run.

  • Oversee complex, multi-stakeholder programmes with clear governance, owners, outcomes, leading indicators and risk management.

  • Build trusted relationships with Managing Partners, General Counsels, Heads of Innovation, Legal Operations leaders and other senior stakeholders.

  • Represent the market's voice inside Legora. Translate recurring client patterns and product gaps into clear, actionable input for Product.

  • Shape Legora's point of view on AI and legal work in Italy. Contribute through executive client forums, events, writing and practical market insight grounded in first-hand work.

  • Create clean handoffs across Go-to-Market, Legal Engineering and Engagement so that commercial momentum, delivery quality and long-term adoption reinforce one another.

What good looks like

At Director level, strong performance looks like this:

  • Product knowledge and application. Move quickly from complex legal problems to credible Legora workflows. Set the quality bar, coach others to meet it and turn the strongest work into reusable offers, templates and playbooks.

  • Communication. Translate legal and technical complexity into business outcomes. Build trust with senior leaders, write clearly and help the team develop the same executive presence.

  • Project and programme management. Lead complex rollouts with clear outcomes, owners, dependencies, metrics and governance. Adjust when reality changes and codify what the organisation should reuse.

  • Stakeholder management. Understand the incentives beneath competing positions, resolve high-stakes escalations and coach Legal Engineers to own senior relationships rather than holding them all yourself.

  • Thought leadership. Develop a credible point of view on how AI will change legal work, grounded in first-hand experience. Shape the local market conversation and turn field insight into useful product and company direction.

How you lead

Strong leadership in this role looks like this:

  • Hiring judgment and partnership. You treat hiring as company-building work. You own open seats end to end, partner closely with Talent and keep the bar high when growth pressure rises.

  • Talent development and accountability. Your team knows where they stand. Feedback is early, written and specific. You create stretch, develop future leaders and distinguish coachable gaps from persistent underperformance.

  • Ownership, delegation and operating rhythm. You own the market outcome while giving others real authority. Priorities, decision rights, leading indicators and dependencies are clear. The team runs well without you in every room.

  • Team-first leadership and culture. You give the team credit, absorb accountability for misses and create enough trust that bad news travels early. People grow faster because they worked for you.

  • Performance bar and decisive judgment. You protect the standard with speed, fairness and evidence. Strong performers trust you to address mediocrity, and difficult decisions remain humane and unambiguous.

The practical test is simple: the Italy team should produce better work, stronger leaders and more repeatable customer outcomes because of the system you built, not because you personally carried every important engagement.

What you bring

You may come from a leading law firm, an in-house legal function, legal operations, legal innovation, professional services, legal technology, or a combination of those worlds. The common thread is that you have moved beyond advising on change and have built the people, systems and client outcomes that make change real.

You will thrive in this role if you:

  • Are qualified to practise law in Italy and have substantial legal, legal-operations or legal-technology experience, with a strong understanding of how sophisticated law firms and in-house legal teams make decisions.

  • Have built a team, function, market or new operating model from a low base, with clear evidence of what you personally decided and what continued to work without you.

  • Have managed and developed strong people, ideally including managers or Team Leads, and can point to people whose careers accelerated under your leadership.

  • Are deeply curious about generative AI and product. You do not need to be a software engineer, but you must be able to learn the platform, challenge use-case design and coach credible client work.

  • Can hold your own with a Managing Partner, General Counsel or executive team while remaining practical with the people doing the work.

  • Understand the commercial realities of legal services and enterprise software. You can connect Legal Engineering to pipeline, client value, adoption, usage and revenue.

  • Bring structure to ambiguity without creating process for its own sake. You build operating systems that improve speed and quality.

  • Have strong hiring and performance judgment. You can attract high-calibre people, develop them directly and protect the standard when a seat is not working.

  • Communicate fluently in Italian and English, in writing and in person.

  • Are based in Milan and able to work from the office five days per week, with travel across Italy for strategic clients, market development and team leadership.

Tech & Remote Glossary

Stop getting lost in interviews and job descriptions

The job market, especially within tech and global companies, has developed its own dialect. Not understanding these acronyms can make you lose valuable opportunities or poorly negotiate your contract. To end this problem, we created the Definitive Glossary for the Remote Professional.

🏢 Work Models & Routine

Async (Asynchronous Work)
A communication model where responses don't need to be immediate. Instead of back-to-back meetings, the team relies on well-structured documents, threads, and messages. It's the gold standard for global companies spanning multiple time zones.
Sync (Synchronous Work)
The opposite of Async. It requires the team to be online and available at the same time for meetings, live chats, and real-time collaboration.
Daily / Stand-up
A quick daily meeting (usually 15 minutes) common in Agile (Scrum) methodologies. The team answers three questions: What did I do yesterday? What will I do today? Are there any blockers?
All-Hands / Town Hall
A company-wide meeting involving all employees. Usually led by the founders (C-Levels) to present results, new goals, and answer team questions.
1:1 (One-on-One)
A recurring individual meeting between a professional and their direct manager. It is used for career alignment, feedback, and problem-solving, not just for project status updates.

💰 Contracts, Benefits & Compensation

PTO (Paid Time Off)
Instead of strict, categorized leave policies, modern US companies usually offer a flexible pool of days (e.g., 20 days of PTO, or even "Unlimited PTO") that you can use for vacations, sick days, or personal matters, while receiving your regular compensation.
Equity / Stock Options
Company ownership. The startup offers you the right to buy shares at a heavily discounted strike price in the future. If the company grows, goes public, or is acquired, these shares can be highly lucrative.
Vesting (Vesting Schedule)
The rule that controls your Equity. It usually lasts 4 years. You don't get all the shares on day one; you "earn" them gradually as you stay with the company. A "1-year Cliff" means you must stay for at least one year to receive your first batch of shares.
RSUs (Restricted Stock Units)
Unlike Stock Options (where you have the right to buy the stock), RSUs are actual shares the company grants you as a bonus or part of your compensation package, following a strict Vesting schedule.
Independent Contractor (1099 / B2B)
The most common international hiring model for global talent working for US companies. You act as a service provider (business-to-business), receiving the gross salary (often six-figure compensation) without standard local payroll tax deductions at the source.

🤖 Recruitment & Hiring Process

ATS (Applicant Tracking System)
The "robot" that reads your resume. Software like Greenhouse, Ashby, and Workday are used to filter candidates by keywords before a human even looks at the document. (Pro tip: this is why your resume must be clean, semantic, and have the right keywords).
JD (Job Description)
The document that lists the responsibilities, technical requirements, and benefits of the open position.
Cultural Fit
The interview stage that evaluates if your core values, communication style, and worldview align with the company's culture. This is the ultimate test of your Soft Skills.
Onboarding
The integration process. It's the period of your first few weeks at the company, where you get your access credentials, learn about the culture, study the internal documentation, and understand how the product works.

🚀 How to use this to your advantage?

The secret isn't just knowing what these acronyms mean, but using them actively. If during an interview for a premium tech role you ask, "How does your PTO policy and Vesting schedule work?", the recruiter will immediately perceive you as a high-level professional, familiar with the global market standards.

The remote job market requires preparation. And having the right vocabulary is the first big step to securing six-figure proposals and standing out among thousands of applicants.

Expert Tip

Landing Top-Tier Traffic Analyst and SEO Roles

The New Era of Performance Marketing

The digital marketing landscape has undergone a radical transformation in recent years. The era of the "button pusher" who merely launched Meta Ads campaigns or stuffed keywords into WordPress is officially over. Today, companies—especially top-tier US startups and global tech corporations offering six-figure compensations—are looking for analytical, Growth-focused, and highly Data-Driven professionals.

Whether managing multi-million dollar paid media budgets or optimizing site architecture for the new AI-driven search engines, the Traffic and SEO Analyst has become the engine of predictable revenue for tech companies worldwide.

1. Technical SEO and the AI Revolution (SGE)

With Google's introduction of the Search Generative Experience (SGE), SEO is no longer just about backlinks and search volume. It now requires a deep understanding of search intent and topical authority.

What Tech Recruiters are looking for:

  • Technical SEO Mastery: The ability to analyze Core Web Vitals, manage Crawl Budgets, and optimize JavaScript rendering (a critical factor for modern frameworks like React and Next.js).
  • Advanced Data Analysis: Fluency in enterprise tools such as Screaming Frog, Semrush, Ahrefs, and Google Search Console.
  • Focus on E-E-A-T: Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness. Understanding how to structure content so that Google's algorithm recognizes it as a reliable primary source.
"Modern SEO success requires you to stop optimizing for algorithms and start optimizing for the user journey, using technical data to remove any friction along the way." — Google Search Central Guidelines

2. Paid Traffic: From Operational to Strategic

In the realm of paid media (Google Ads, Meta Ads, LinkedIn Ads, TikTok Ads), platform automation handles most of the bidding work (Smart Bidding). The modern candidate's competitive edge lies in acquisition strategy and financial viability analysis.

Metrics you must master for your interviews:

  1. CAC (Customer Acquisition Cost): Moving beyond Cost Per Click (CPC). Understanding exactly how much it costs to acquire a paying user.
  2. LTV (Lifetime Value): Knowing how to cross-reference acquisition costs with the value a customer brings to the company over time (LTV:CAC ratio).
  3. ROAS vs. ROI: Grasping the crucial difference between the direct return on ad spend (ROAS) and the actual return on investment for the entire business (ROI).
  4. Server-Side Tracking: With the deprecation of third-party cookies, mastering the Conversions API and Google Tag Manager (GTM) Server-Side is a massive senior requirement.

3. Building an Unbeatable Portfolio

In the global remote market, degrees matter far less than proven results. Your portfolio shouldn't just be a resume; it should be a comprehensive document of Case Studies.

Structure your cases using the STAR method:

  • Situation: What was the baseline? E.g., "The e-commerce brand was burning $10k/month with a 1.2 ROAS."
  • Task: What was the goal? E.g., "Reduce CPA by 30% and increase non-branded organic traffic."
  • Action: What did YOU do technically? E.g., "Audited GTM, restructured PMax campaigns, and applied Schema markup in the HTML."
  • Result: The numerical impact. E.g., "Scaled ROAS to 3.8 and grew organic traffic by 45% in 3 months."

4. Certifications That Actually Open Doors

If you want to bypass strict Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) like Greenhouse or Workday, ensure your LinkedIn and resume feature official certifications issued by the tech platforms themselves:
