Over 180,000 businesses, from Fortune 100 leaders to the world’s most innovative AI companies, trust 1Password to help their teams securely adopt the SaaS and AI tools they need to do their best work.

If you're excited about the opportunity to contribute to the digital safety of millions, to work alongside a team of curious, driven individuals, and to solve hard problems in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, then we want to hear from you. Come join us and help shape a safer, simpler digital future.

Our Experience, Design and Research (EDR) team is at the heart of this mission—transforming complex security challenges into elegant, human-centered experiences. We value collaboration, curiosity, and a strong design culture built on customer empathy and innovation.

If you're excited about the opportunity to contribute to the digital safety of millions, to work alongside a team of curious, driven individuals, and to solve hard problems in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, then we want to hear from you. Come join us and help shape a safer, simpler digital future.

As a Product Designer at 1Password, you'll contribute to the design of meaningful product experiences that make security clear, usable, and trustworthy for individuals and businesses alike. You'll own well-defined features and problem spaces—partnering with product managers, engineers, and researchers to understand user needs, explore solutions, and deliver high-quality work that aligns with both customer goals and business priorities.

This role is ideal for a designer who is building their product thinking, developing a strong design craft, and growing their ability to balance usability, accessibility, and security considerations. You'll contribute to design direction within your focus area, collaborate closely with your team on shared standards and practices, and raise the quality of work around you through active participation in critique and peer feedback.

We're looking for someone who takes ownership of their work, seeks out feedback to improve, and is genuinely motivated by solving hard problems in a fast-moving environment.

How we’re using AI today

Our Engineering, Product, and Design teams are thoughtfully integrating AI across the full software and product development lifecycle to move faster without sacrificing quality or security. In practice, that looks like engineers using AI-assisted coding tools to accelerate reviews and catch bugs earlier, product managers synthesizing user research at scale, and designers rapidly prototyping and iterating with AI-generated mockups. We approach AI the same way we approach security: with clear principles, human accountability at every consequential decision point, and rigorous evaluation before anything ships to customers.

This is a remote opportunity within Canada and the US.

What we're looking for:

  • 2–4 years of relevant design experience at a product-driven company

  • Proficiency in Figma and experience with AI prototyping tools e.g. Figma Make, Cursor

  • Curiosity about agentic development tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code, or MCP-based tools) and how AI is changing the design-to-code pipeline; hands-on experience is a plus

  • A portfolio of recent project work demonstrating your craft, design process, and the impact of your work on users

  • Experience collaborating with Engineering, Product Management, and/or User Research to ship designs

  • Growing product thinking and an ability to make informed design decisions using research, data, and a clear point of view

  • Ability to work independently with some support, take ownership of your projects, and actively seek feedback to improve

  • Interest and/or experience in cybersecurity, SaaS, or similarly complex product domains

Bonus points for:

  • Experience designing for security, privacy, enterprise, or highly regulated products.

  • Familiarity with accessibility standards and inclusive design practices.

  • Experience running or participating in usability tests or other research methods.

  • Experience contributing to a design system.

  • Genuine curiosity about cybersecurity and the role design plays in building user trust and confidence.

What you can expect:

Month 1

  • Immerse yourself in our team culture, tools, design process, and workflows, building foundational knowledge of our customers, their needs, and the broader cybersecurity landscape.

  • Meet your cross-functional partners in Product and Engineering, getting up to speed on your product area and beginning to understand key priorities and ongoing work.

  • Connect with peers across the Experience, Design, and Research (EDR) team, establishing relationships and starting to contribute to active projects with guidance.

Month 3

  • Independently drive the design of well-scoped features, from discovery through delivery, with regular check-ins and feedback from your manager and team.

  • Actively participate in design critiques and team rituals, sharing work openly, incorporating feedback, and building confidence in communicating your design rationale.

  • Begin to develop a deeper understanding of your product area, proactively identifying questions and gaps and bringing a clearer point of view to your work.

Month 6+

  • Take ownership of increasingly complex features, demonstrating consistent design quality and a growing ability to navigate ambiguity with less guidance.

  • Build stronger cross-functional relationships, contributing meaningfully to roadmap and prioritization conversations alongside your PM and engineering partners.

  • Reflect on your growth, identify areas where you want to develop further, and begin contributing to team culture through peer feedback, mentorship of interns or junior designers, and/or participation in improving shared processes.

Expert Tip

Generative Design and AI as a Co-pilot

If the last decade in digital design was defined by mobile standardization and UX/UI becoming the core of product development, 2026 marks the dawn of a new era. We are no longer designing just for flat glass screens; we are building intelligent ecosystems, three-dimensional environments, and autonomous algorithms.

For designers looking to stand out and secure the best six-figure remote opportunities in the US tech market, understanding where the industry is heading is no longer a "nice-to-have" differential—it's a matter of professional survival. Below, we break down the four major trends that will dictate hiring and compensation in the 2026 design landscape.

1. Generative Design and AI as a Co-pilot (Not a Replacement)

The fear of Artificial Intelligence replacing designers is officially in the past. In 2026, generative AI is deeply and natively integrated into industry-standard tools like Figma, Adobe, and Framer. The most valued skill by top-tier tech companies is no longer speed in aligning components, but rather algorithmic art direction and prompt design.

  • UI Automation: Wireframing, component variations, and complex design systems can now be generated with a few text prompts.
  • The Designer's New Role: Professionals are shifting from operational executors to curators and strategists, ensuring that AI-generated outputs align with user psychology and core business objectives.

2. Spatial Design and Spatial Computing

With the maturation of mixed reality devices (such as the Apple Vision Pro and Meta's advanced lineups), Spatial Design has evolved from an experimental niche to a mandatory department in Big Tech and forward-thinking startups.

Designing for spatial computing requires a complete paradigm shift: designers must understand Z-axis depth, visual ergonomics, spatial audio, and interactions based on eye-tracking and hand gestures. Roles like AR/VR Product Designer and 3D Interaction Designer are seeing an exponential jump in job listings, often paired with premium compensation packages.

3. Conversation Design and Invisible Interfaces (Zero-UI)

Driven by the omnipresence of Large Language Models (LLMs), the way users interact with systems has fundamentally changed. In 2026, many of the best interfaces don't rely on buttons or hamburger menus; they are conversational. UX Writing and Conversation Design have taken center stage.

  • The Challenge: How do you design the "personality" and flow of a virtual assistant so it feels natural, empathetic, and on-brand, rather than like a rigid robot?
  • The Opportunity: Designers who know how to map complex decision trees, create logical flows for voice and text, and train the empathy of AI models are being heavily scouted by top US startups.

4. Digital Sustainability and Eco-Design

The ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) agenda has finally reached the product design tables. The internet consumes a massive amount of energy, and in 2026, tech companies are being strictly held accountable for their digital carbon footprint.

Enter the demand for Digital Eco-Design. This involves creating lighter interfaces, optimizing user flows to reduce screen time (saving battery life and server processing power), and adopting color palettes and assets (like SVGs instead of heavy raster images) that require less energy to render. Being a sustainable designer has become a powerful B2B selling point for agencies and freelancers alike.

Conclusion: The Evolution of Talent

The 2026 design market is highly rewarding for those who embrace complexity. The barrier to entry for making "pretty screens" has dropped significantly, but the demand for professionals who can solve intricate business problems through empathy, strategy, and the mastery of new technologies has never been higher.

If you want to stay ahead of the curve and get direct access to the remote jobs that are actively looking for these specific skills, make sure to follow Mondywork's daily curation. The future of design is hybrid, remote, and full of opportunities.
