About 1Password
At 1Password, we’re building the foundation for a safe, productive digital future. Our mission is to unleash employee productivity without compromising security by ensuring every identity is authentic, every application sign-in is secure, and every device is trusted. We innovated the market-leading enterprise password manager and pioneered Unified Access Management, a new cybersecurity category built for the way people and AI agents work today. Over 180,000 businesses, from Fortune 100 leaders to the world’s most innovative AI companies, trust 1Password to help their teams securely adopt the SaaS and AI tools they need to do their best work.
If you're excited about the opportunity to contribute to the digital safety of millions, to work alongside a team of curious, driven individuals, and to solve hard problems in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, then we want to hear from you. Come join us and help shape a safer, simpler digital future.
We are seeking an Intermediate Developer on our Everyday Experience team. Everyday Experience owns the surfaces and workflows that shape how customers use 1Password day to day, with a focus on reliability, usability, and trust across core product experiences.
The team’s work often sits at the intersection of product quality, cross-platform foundations, and customer-facing execution, which makes it a critical partner for company-priority initiatives.
How we’re using AI today
Our Engineering, Product, and Design teams are thoughtfully integrating AI across the full software and product development lifecycle to move faster without sacrificing quality or security. In practice, that looks like engineers using AI-assisted coding tools to accelerate reviews and catch bugs earlier, product managers synthesizing user research at scale, and designers rapidly prototyping and iterating with AI-generated mockups. We approach AI the same way we approach security: with clear principles, human accountability at every consequential decision point, and rigorous evaluation before anything ships to customers.
This is a remote opportunity within Canada and the US.
What we're looking for:
Experienced developer with strong Rust knowledge.
Able to own complex systems work end-to-end, from design through delivery and production support.
Comfortable working across product surfaces, backend services, CI/CD, reliability, and operational workflows.
Strong technical judgment and ability to make pragmatic tradeoffs across quality, speed, reliability, and maintainability.
Able to ramp into complex codebases and ambiguous problem spaces quickly.
Collaborative across teams, including Product, Design, Security, Browser, Backend, and Infrastructure.
Effective at using AI tooling to accelerate development, testing, debugging, documentation, and code exploration.
Brings the expertise needed to validate, review, and safely apply AI-assisted work in production systems.
Bonus points for:
Strong experience building backend services in Go
Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS)
What you can expect:
Acquire and maintain a solid understanding of your development toolchain and use it to contribute new features, improvements, and bug fixes across the team's codebases.
Participate in the complete lifecycle of a feature: contribute to planning, do the development, and help oversee its release and customer support.
Ensure code is high quality and maintainable by developing new testing strategies in addition to existing ones, writing unit and integration tests for new and existing code, documenting your work thoroughly, and reporting issues effectively.
Plan your solutions ahead of writing code, recognize and reuse existing patterns and best practices (development, security, quality), and submit well-documented merge requests.
Participate in and review documented proposals (RFCs/RFDs), promote best practices in code reviews, and provide thoughtful peer feedback.
Empower our customer support team to better support our products, address tough issues driving support inflows, and help determine high-priority customer feedback.
Be an active participant in team organization: refinement, prioritization, and group estimation.
Be curious and on the lookout for improvement opportunities you can suggest or tackle yourself, whether in repo cleanup, community engagement tooling, or IDE integration ergonomics.
