From Fivetran’s founding until now, our mission has remained the same: to make access to data as simple and reliable as electricity. With Fivetran, customer data arrives in their warehouses, canonical and ready to query, with no engineering or maintenance required. We’re proud that more organizations continue to leverage our technology every day to become truly data-driven.

About Us

Fivetran and dbt Labs are bringing together two industry-leading companies with a shared mission: helping organizations unlock the full value of their data.

Together, we’re delivering the data infrastructure layer that helps organizations move, transform, and trust their data — from the moment data moves, through every transformation, to the context teams and AI systems rely on.

Fivetran helps organizations automate data movement across the systems, clouds, engines, and tools they rely on. dbt Labs pioneered analytics engineering, helping teams transform data into reliable, governed insights. Together, we support thousands of organizations as they build a trusted foundation for analytics, AI, and better business decisions.

As we bring our teams and technology together, we’re building on the strengths of both companies while continuing to deliver the products and experiences our customers know and trust. It’s an exciting time to join us: we’re creating a company with the scale, talent, and technology to help more organizations put their data to work with greater speed, confidence, and impact.

During this transition period, you may see references to both Fivetran and dbt Labs throughout our recruiting process as we integrate our teams, systems, and career sites.

About the Role

We are looking for a Global Head of Deal Strategy and Operations to lead the worldwide deal function for a rapidly scaling data and analytics business formed by the combination of Fivetran and dbt Labs. This is a commercial strategy role as much as an operational one with a mandate to make our deals bigger, better, and faster. The leader owns the deal structures, pricing inputs, policies, and governance that drive more revenue and higher ASP, cleaner and lower-risk terms, and real velocity across every region and segment, while de-risking the business.

This is a pivotal role at a pivotal moment. The business is integrating two commercial engines, two product portfolios, and two sets of systems into a single combined go-to-market. The role sets the strategy for how deals get structured, priced, routed, reviewed, and approved, and acts as a key commercial advisor to GTM leadership on the structures that drive growth, including ELA and commercial strategy, cross-sell, and new product launches. It leads a global team across the Americas, EMEA, and APAC and partners closely with Sales, Finance, Legal, Product, Systems, Pricing, and Partner Marketplace to keep decisions fast, consistent, and scalable.

This leader is an equal part strategist, operator, and trusted business partner. The ideal candidate moves fluidly between long-term commercial strategy and hands-on problem solving, has a proven track record scaling a deal function in a global, complex, high-growth SaaS environment, and leads teams through change with clarity and conviction.

Reports to the SVP, Strategy and Operations. This is a full-time, hybrid role based in one of our hub offices: New York, NY; Denver, CO; Oakland, CA; or Austin, TX.

What You'll Do

  • Team leadership and organizational development
    • Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing global Deal Desk organization.
    • Coach the team to operate as commercial advisors to the field, raising the strategic value of every interaction with Sales.
    • Build capability and bench strength, reducing key-person dependency as the team scales.
  • Strategic leadership and vision
    • Own and execute the global vision for the Deal Desk organization across the combined Fivetran + dbt business.
    • Conceptualize and launch new, high-impact commercial strategies and deal constructs (e.g. multi-year deals, shift to consumption-based pricing, and product-specific ELAs) that grow revenue and move the business forward.
    • Lead commercial strategy for the Fivetran + dbt integration, landing one combined operating model, policy set, and deal construct.
    • Build the team structure, governance framework, and ways of working needed to support a global enterprise sales engine selling a multi-product, consumption-based portfolio.
    • Position the deal function as a driver of growth, net revenue retention, and cross-sell, and align the C-suite behind that mandate.
  • Commercial guidance and executive escalation
    • Provide strategic counsel to senior sales leadership and account teams on complex deal structures, pricing options, concessions, and negotiation strategy.
    • Act as the trusted advisor for high-risk, non-standard, and strategically significant commercial discussions.
    • Engage directly with customers on strategic, high-value negotiations when needed, representing the company with credibility.
  • AI and automation
    • Set the vision for an AI-native deal desk, deploying agents and automation across the deal lifecycle, including deal-structuring guidance, pricing recommendations, contract and redline review, approval routing, and risk scoring.
    • Build a tiered service model where automation handles standardized, low-risk deals end to end, so the team's time goes to complex, strategic ones.
    • Scale AI-enabled workflows that improve seller productivity, deal quality, approval consistency, and speed, building on an existing foundation of deal-desk AI agents and AI-assisted deal review.
  • Deal governance and cross-functional alignment
    • Document and enforce global approval policies, SLAs, delegation of authority, and commercial guardrails across Sales, Finance, and Legal.
    • Drive consistency of commercial policy, thresholds, and approval rules across all regions and product lines, so sellers get the same answer wherever a deal originates.
    • Own a standing deal-review and inspection cadence (deal reviews, early checkpoints, and exception tracking) that catches risk early and keeps decisions fast.
    • Partner with Finance and Revenue Accounting to ensure sound revenue recognition, revenue predictability, deal hygiene, and commercial compliance as consumption, ELA, and marketplace structures scale.
  • Deal systems and infrastructure
    • Lead the strategy and roadmap for deal infrastructure, ensuring scalable, efficient, compliant execution as the two companies converge onto unified quote-to-order systems.
    • Partner with Systems, Legal, and Finance to deliver a unified, high-quality quoting and contracting experience across CPQ, CLM, and order management.
  • New product introduction and pricing operations
    • Partner with Product, Pricing, and Monetization on new product introduction (NPI), making sure new products and packaging land with a clear deal construct, approval path, and field enablement at launch.
    • Oversee the Pricing Operations function, supporting packaging, SKU rationalization, and consistent, well-governed pricing execution across the portfolio.
  • Marketplace strategy and operations
    • Oversee marketplace operations across AWS, GCP, Azure, Snowflake, and Databricks, ensuring a streamlined and compliant transaction experience for customers.
    • Shape policies and operational standards for our marketplace presence, and drive cross-functional alignment with Finance, Product, and vendor partners to optimize transaction efficiency and financial accuracy.

Skills We're Looking For

  • 15+ years of experience in Deal Desk, Deal Strategy, Revenue Operations or Commercial Operations within a global SaaS or subscription-based business, or Strategy Consulting with a focus on B2B Pricing and Deal Strategy.
  • 8+ years of leadership experience scaling high-performing teams, including meaningful time at the director and ideally senior director level.
  • Strong command of SaaS pricing strategy, with specific depth in consumption-based pricing, commercial governance, discounting and margin considerations, and contract risk mitigation.
  • Track record of building scalable deal processes, implementing robust approval frameworks, and improving deal velocity in complex, high-growth environments.
  • Experience structuring deals across both direct and channel motions, including resellers and cloud marketplaces.
  • Working knowledge of revenue recognition principles, with a track record of partnering closely with Finance and Revenue Accounting on deal structure.
  • Experience applying AI tools to improve deal operations, approval consistency, and seller productivity.
  • Proven ability to influence and collaborate with senior executives across Sales, Finance, Legal, Systems, and Product, with exceptional analytical, strategic-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Executive-level communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts simply and persuasively.
  • Experience with the commercial tooling a deal process runs on (CPQ, CRM, CLM, and related sales systems), enough to be a strong partner to Systems on what is feasible; specific platform experience such as Salesforce or Ironclad is a plus, not a requirement.
  • Experience leading through M&A, systems integration, or large-scale organizational change is a strong plus.

Tech & Remote Glossary

Stop getting lost in interviews and job descriptions

The job market, especially within tech and global companies, has developed its own dialect. Not understanding these acronyms can make you lose valuable opportunities or poorly negotiate your contract. To end this problem, we created the Definitive Glossary for the Remote Professional.

🏢 Work Models & Routine

Async (Asynchronous Work)
A communication model where responses don't need to be immediate. Instead of back-to-back meetings, the team relies on well-structured documents, threads, and messages. It's the gold standard for global companies spanning multiple time zones.
Sync (Synchronous Work)
The opposite of Async. It requires the team to be online and available at the same time for meetings, live chats, and real-time collaboration.
Daily / Stand-up
A quick daily meeting (usually 15 minutes) common in Agile (Scrum) methodologies. The team answers three questions: What did I do yesterday? What will I do today? Are there any blockers?
All-Hands / Town Hall
A company-wide meeting involving all employees. Usually led by the founders (C-Levels) to present results, new goals, and answer team questions.
1:1 (One-on-One)
A recurring individual meeting between a professional and their direct manager. It is used for career alignment, feedback, and problem-solving, not just for project status updates.

💰 Contracts, Benefits & Compensation

PTO (Paid Time Off)
Instead of strict, categorized leave policies, modern US companies usually offer a flexible pool of days (e.g., 20 days of PTO, or even "Unlimited PTO") that you can use for vacations, sick days, or personal matters, while receiving your regular compensation.
Equity / Stock Options
Company ownership. The startup offers you the right to buy shares at a heavily discounted strike price in the future. If the company grows, goes public, or is acquired, these shares can be highly lucrative.
Vesting (Vesting Schedule)
The rule that controls your Equity. It usually lasts 4 years. You don't get all the shares on day one; you "earn" them gradually as you stay with the company. A "1-year Cliff" means you must stay for at least one year to receive your first batch of shares.
RSUs (Restricted Stock Units)
Unlike Stock Options (where you have the right to buy the stock), RSUs are actual shares the company grants you as a bonus or part of your compensation package, following a strict Vesting schedule.
Independent Contractor (1099 / B2B)
The most common international hiring model for global talent working for US companies. You act as a service provider (business-to-business), receiving the gross salary (often six-figure compensation) without standard local payroll tax deductions at the source.

🤖 Recruitment & Hiring Process

ATS (Applicant Tracking System)
The "robot" that reads your resume. Software like Greenhouse, Ashby, and Workday are used to filter candidates by keywords before a human even looks at the document. (Pro tip: this is why your resume must be clean, semantic, and have the right keywords).
JD (Job Description)
The document that lists the responsibilities, technical requirements, and benefits of the open position.
Cultural Fit
The interview stage that evaluates if your core values, communication style, and worldview align with the company's culture. This is the ultimate test of your Soft Skills.
Onboarding
The integration process. It's the period of your first few weeks at the company, where you get your access credentials, learn about the culture, study the internal documentation, and understand how the product works.

🚀 How to use this to your advantage?

The secret isn't just knowing what these acronyms mean, but using them actively. If during an interview for a premium tech role you ask, "How does your PTO policy and Vesting schedule work?", the recruiter will immediately perceive you as a high-level professional, familiar with the global market standards.

The remote job market requires preparation. And having the right vocabulary is the first big step to securing six-figure proposals and standing out among thousands of applicants.

The New Account Manager Profile: How to Land the Best Remote B2B SaaS Jobs

The Evolution of Account Management: Beyond Relationship Building

If you are aiming for an Account Manager (AM), Key Account Manager (KAM), or Enterprise Account Director role in 2026, it is crucial to understand that the traditional "order-taker" profile focused solely on charisma is a thing of the past. In tech companies, especially within the B2B SaaS (Software as a Service) model, Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC) is higher than ever. Consequently, retaining and expanding the existing customer base are now the primary drivers of profitability.

Recruiters at tech giants and hyper-growth startups are looking for hybrid professionals: individuals with sharp emotional intelligence, but who also possess strong analytical skills to interpret usage data and prevent churn. If your resume does not reflect this duality, you will quickly be filtered out by modern ATS algorithms.

3 Critical Skills to Make Your Resume Stand Out

1. Mastery of Data-Driven Strategies

An elite Account Manager does not wait for the client to complain before taking action. They actively monitor account health. During interviews, you must be able to discuss how you leverage CRM tools (like Salesforce, HubSpot, or Pipedrive) and Customer Success platforms (like Gainsight or Totango) to identify Upsell and Cross-sell opportunities.

"B2B sales teams that adopt data-driven and AI-backed strategies perform substantially better in customer retention and account expansion."

— Gartner Report on B2B Sales

2. Bridging the Gap Between Client and Engineering (Product Feedback Loop)

You will act as the voice of the customer within the company. The most competitive roles require the AM to translate client business pains into actionable insights for Product Managers (PMs) and Software Engineers. In your portfolio of achievements, always mention how your clients' feedback helped shape the product roadmap, resulting in new features and increased Net Promoter Scores (NPS).

3. Asynchronous Communication and Remote Strategic Consulting

With remote work firmly established globally, traditional in-person business lunches have been replaced by strategic Zoom calls and asynchronous alignments. You need to demonstrate your ability to lead a Quarterly Business Review (QBR) effectively in a remote setting, presenting ROI (Return on Investment) reports that easily justify contract renewals.

Practical Interview Tips

When you reach the interview stage with a VP of Sales or Head of Customer Success, drop the generic speech and bring concrete numbers to the table. Structure your answers using the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result).

  • Focus on Net Revenue Retention (NRR): Do not just state how many accounts you managed; explain how you successfully grew the revenue of those accounts over time.
  • Conflict Resolution: Have a ready-to-tell example of an "at-risk" account that you managed to turn around and save from churning.
  • Onboarding and Adoption: Explain your methodology for ensuring that the client fully adopts and utilizes the software from day one.

The Path to Six-Figure Remote Roles

The US tech market remains highly competitive, with enterprise account roles in startups and scale-ups consistently offering six-figure base salaries plus aggressive OTE (On-Target Earnings). However, simply applying through standard job boards often leads your resume straight into a black hole. To access the "hidden job market" of premium US Remote opportunities, smart networking and utilizing curated tech platforms are absolute requirements.

"The best sales opportunities are not the ones you merely apply for; they are the ones your reputation and network qualify you for in advance."

— Harvard Business Review: The Future of B2B Sales
