The company Hopper is currently seeking a highly skilled Senior Security Engineer to join their team in New York, with the option to work remotely. This role is a unique opportunity to be part of a small but highly impactful security team, where the successful candidate will be responsible for owning the tooling, automation, and processes that ensure the security of Hopper's applications across their entire lifecycle. As a Senior Security Engineer, the individual will be tasked with building systems that make security invisible to developers and unavoidable by default, utilizing their skills to write code, ship tools, and leverage artificial intelligence as a core part of their work.
The day-to-day responsibilities of this role will include owning and evolving Hopper's vulnerability management program, with a focus on application security, including container images, dependencies, code scanning, and runtime detection. The Senior Security Engineer will also be responsible for building and maintaining security tooling that integrates directly into CI/CD pipelines and developer workflows, allowing security to happen automatically rather than as a gate. Additionally, the individual will use artificial intelligence extensively to write code faster, automate analyses, and build intelligent tooling that scales beyond what a small team could achieve manually.
As a key member of the security team, the Senior Security Engineer will work directly with engineering teams to influence secure development practices, not by writing standards and documents, but by shipping tools and defaults that make the secure path the easy path. They will also assess and improve how Hopper leverages available telemetry across their systems and investigate and respond to security findings when needed. However, the primary focus of this role will be on building systems that prevent and detect issues, rather than manually chasing them. This is a builder's role that requires a high level of technical expertise, creativity, and problem-solving skills, and offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on the security of Hopper's applications.
