70 ptsHopper is a company with a small team focused on making a big impact. The role of Senior Security Engineer at Hopper is centered in this mission. As the Senior Security Engineer, you will be responsible for owning, evolving, and maintaining the security tooling, automation, and processes that keep our applications secure throughout their lifecycle. Your work will involve building systems that make security invisible to developers and unavoidable by default.
Your daily responsibilities will include:
- Owning and evolving our vulnerability management program with a focus on application security — this includes container images, dependencies, code scanning, and runtime detection.
- Building and maintaining security tooling that integrates directly into CI/CD pipelines and developer workflows. This means security happens automatically rather than as a gate.
- Extensively using AI to write code faster, automate analyses that would otherwise require manual review, and build intelligent tooling that scales beyond what a small team could achieve manually.
- Assessing and improving how we leverage available telemetry across our systems.
- Working directly with engineering teams to influence secure development practices. This will be done by shipping tools and defaults that make the secure path the easy path rather than writing standards and documents.
- Investigating and responding to security findings when needed, but spending more of your time building systems that prevent and detect issues than manually chasing them.
This role requires a strong background in security engineering, experience with vulnerability management, and a deep understanding of both automated tooling and AI. You should have a passion for making security invisible and unavoidable by default. The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively in a remote environment and be collaborative with the rest of the team.
