The Warehouse Supervisor oversees receiving, inventory control, material movement, kitting, staging, packaging, and shipping activities. This role leads warehouse personnel and establishes and maintains safe, organized, and efficient warehouse standards, procedures, and workflows.

The Warehouse Supervisor ensures accurate ERP transactions, inventory records, material availability, and on-time shipments while resolving discrepancies and supporting production and customer commitments. This position collaborates with Production, Planning, Supply Chain, Quality, customers, subcontractors, and other Interstates locations to coordinate material flow and drive continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily receiving, warehousing, kitting, and shipping activities.
  • Assign work, set priorities, monitor performance, and ensure timely completion of warehouse activities.
  • Receive, inspect, identify, label, and route materials to the appropriate storage or production location.
  • Investigate and resolve receiving, inventory, kitting, and shipping discrepancies, including shortages, overages, damages, and delays.
  • Lead warehouse safety by promoting safe behaviors, conducting regular observations, identifying and addressing hazards, investigating incidents and near misses, implementing corrective actions, and improving safety processes.
  • Lead the warehouse team through servant leadership by coaching employees, removing barriers, developing talent, and fostering accountability and engagement.
  • Maintain accurate inventory and location records through proper ERP transactions, cycle counts, reconciliations, and location control.
  • Coordinate material movement within the facility and ensure materials are properly stored, organized, and available for production.
  • Manage production kitting activities, ensuring kits are complete, accurate, properly labeled, and staged according to production requirements.
  • Coordinate with Production, Planning, and Supply Chain to address material shortages, substitutions, schedule changes, returns, and disposition activities.
  • Manage shipments to customers, subcontractors, and other Interstates locations, including packaging, documentation, carrier coordination, and ERP transactions.
  • Verify shipment accuracy, product condition, quantities, identification, and required documentation before release.
  • Train and develop warehouse personnel on safety, material handling, ERP transactions, inspections, and standard work.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and compliant work environment.
  • Identify and implement improvements related to material flow, space utilization, accuracy, efficiency, and loss prevention.
  • Communicate material status, constraints, and operational needs to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support warehouse equipment, storage, facility, and capital-planning needs.

 Essential Skills & Experience

Education/Experience/Skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in supply chain, logistics, operations, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience in warehouse operations, inventory control, logistics, manufacturing, or materials management.
  • Supervisory or team-lead experience preferred.
  • Experience using an ERP or warehouse-management system.
  • Knowledge of receiving, inventory control, kitting, shipping, packaging, and material-handling practices.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, communication, and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to interpret work instructions, shipping documents, inventory records, and inspection requirements.
  • Ability to safely lift and move materials and operate applicable material-handling equipment, as required.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand or walk for long periods of time and use hands to reach for, handle, and manipulate objects.  The employee is frequently required to climb and maintain balance on ladders and scaffolds while carrying tools.  Reach for, handle, and grasp wires and hand tools, bend, crouch, stoop kneel, and work in small places, and lift and carry objects weighing 25 pounds (frequently) and 50 pounds (occasionally). Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception; recognizing slight differences in shapes or shading, and ability to adjust focus.

Employees must strictly adhere to site safety protocols, which include wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, gloves, high-visibility clothing, and safety glasses. Role-specific PPE will be provided. 🏢 Work Models & Routine

Async (Asynchronous Work)
A communication model where responses don't need to be immediate. Instead of back-to-back meetings, the team relies on well-structured documents, threads, and messages. It's the gold standard for global companies spanning multiple time zones.
Sync (Synchronous Work)
The opposite of Async. It requires the team to be online and available at the same time for meetings, live chats, and real-time collaboration.
Daily / Stand-up
A quick daily meeting (usually 15 minutes) common in Agile (Scrum) methodologies. The team answers three questions: What did I do yesterday? What will I do today? Are there any blockers?
All-Hands / Town Hall
A company-wide meeting involving all employees. Usually led by the founders (C-Levels) to present results, new goals, and answer team questions.

💰 Contracts, Benefits & Compensation

PTO (Paid Time Off)
Instead of strict, categorized leave policies, modern US companies usually offer a flexible pool of days (e.g., 20 days of PTO, or even "Unlimited PTO") that you can use for vacations, sick days, or personal matters, while receiving your regular compensation.
Equity / Stock Options
Company ownership. The startup offers you the right to buy shares at a heavily discounted strike price in the future. If the company grows, goes public, or is acquired, these shares can be highly lucrative.
Vesting (Vesting Schedule)
The rule that controls your Equity. It usually lasts 4 years. You don't get all the shares on day one; you "earn" them gradually as you stay with the company. A "1-year Cliff" means you must stay for at least one year to receive your first batch of shares.
RSUs (Restricted Stock Units)
Unlike Stock Options (where you have the right to buy the stock), RSUs are actual shares the company grants you as a bonus or part of your compensation package, following a strict Vesting schedule.
Independent Contractor (1099 / B2B)
The most common international hiring model for global talent working for US companies. You act as a service provider (business-to-business), receiving the gross salary (often six-figure compensation) without standard local payroll tax deductions at the source.

ATS (Applicant Tracking System)
The "robot" that reads your resume. Software like Greenhouse, Ashby, and Workday are used to filter candidates by keywords before a human even looks at the document. (Pro tip: this is why your resume must be clean, semantic, and have the right keywords).
