What the job can offer you
As a Senior IT Operations Engineer, your mission is to elevate our IT support and system management to world-class standards. You’ll not only solve complex technical issues but also strategize on IT infrastructure, ensuring scalability, security, and optimal performance. Your leadership will build upon our foundations, enhancing our SaaS environment and macOS fleet management for our global team, affectionately known as 'Remoters'.
This senior position demands a blend of technical prowess, strategic planning, and team leadership. You’re expected to:
- Lead by example, setting high standards in system administration, particularly for SaaS platforms like Google Workspace, Notion, Slack, and Okta, and in endpoint management for macOS.
- Mentor junior team members, sharing your deep knowledge and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and learning.
- Assist with the rollout and governance of AI tools across the business, from Claude for Work seat management to Notion AI agents.
- Drive initiatives that enhance our IT infrastructure, ensuring our solutions are robust, scalable, and secure.
- Act as a key decision-maker in the selection and implementation of IT tools and practices that align with Remote's long-term vision.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategize and implement advanced IT solutions to enhance end-user support and system management.
- Lead projects to improve our SaaS and AI tool estate, ensuring efficient, secure, and compliant operations.
- Mentor junior engineers, share knowledge and guiding them in their professional development and project work.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align IT operations with broader company objectives.
- Support audits and access reviews for SaaS and AI tools, tracking usage and flagging spend where seats sit idle.
What you bring
- Proven experience in a senior IT operations role, with a track record of improving IT infrastructure and end-user support.
- Hands-on experience with enterprise AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, or similar), including seat management, access control, and usage review.
- Expert knowledge of macOS environments, SaaS platform administration, and security compliance.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to mentor and guide a team through complex projects and challenges.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities, capable of strategic thinking and innovation.
- Exceptional communication skills, fluent in English, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
- Experience in remote work environments is highly valued.
