Reporting to: VP, Specialty Travel, with matrixed reporting line to VP, Navan Premier Operations
Position Overview
As the Director of Energy & Marine (E&M), you are the operational heart, primary customer advocate, and deep domain authority for Navan’s E&M business. Having built this business from the ground up, you will be a key part of the team that will transition the sector from a legacy, offline servicing model into a hyper-scaled, global power powered by Navan and Travelxen’s AI-driven platform.
Reporting operationally to the VP, Speciality Travel and in matrix alignment with the VP, Navan Premier Operations, you will bridge the gap between traditional industry expertise and next-generation travel technology. You will lead our frontline team in Aberdeen, ensure unparalleled operational delivery, protect our core revenue, and act as the key commercial partner to global enterprise sales.
Key Responsibilities
1. Operational Leadership & Tech Transition

Legacy-to-Platform Migration: Act as the key operational champion migrating clients and consultants from legacy R&M technology to the automated Navan and Travelxen platform.

Workflow Preservation: Scope, review, and translate complex, bespoke E&M workflows (such as crew and rig rotations) to help the product team build automated alternatives.

Operational Excellence: Maintain ultimate accountability for service excellence, SLA compliance, and fulfillment quality across E&M fulfillment teams.
2. Client Retention & Commercial Growth

Strategic Account Protection: Drive client retention across the existing E&M portfolio by attending critical client reviews alongside CSMs.

Enterprise Sales Support: Support global sales as the primary Subject Matter Expert (SME) for high-value bids, proposal writing, and pitch presentations for new enterprise prospects.

Commercial Safeguarding: Work alongside the VP Specialty Travel to actively manage commercial metrics for the E&M unit, including Volume/Yield targets, strong Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) control, and active management of aged debt.
Existing client relationships: To cultivate and sustain strong client relationships through consistent visibility, engagement and accessibility across the existing client portfolio, throughout their contractual lifecycle.
3. Market Presence & Team Leadership

Aberdeen Anchor: Leverage deep personal networks and sector credibility in Aberdeen to cultivate customer referrals and maintain Navan’s market dominance in the UK energy hub.

Frontline Advocacy: Motivate, mentor, and manage the specialized E&M travel consulting teams, ensuring talent performance aligns with global company objectives during a period of digital transformation.

Sector Thought Leadership: Contribute to E&M marketing material, sector-specific content, and industry positioning to highlight Navan’s tech-forward disruption of the segment.
